  1. For your downloading convenience, the GrpIcon program has been distributed on 
  2. BBS systems in three different packages.  Each package contains a different 
  3. subset of files and has been designed to suit different user needs.  
  4. We recommend that you first review this file, then download the GrpIcon 
  5. package which will incur the lowest download cost while supplying the 
  6. necessary files, based on your present knowledge and Windows installation.

  8. Package #1: GRPBIG.ZIP
  9. This package contains everything associated with GrpIcon, and weighs in at 
  10. 435KB.  It includes a pretty Windows-based installation program that installs 
  11. GrpIcon and associated utilities conveniently for you.  This package is 
  12. recommended for people who are not comfortable manually copying files back 
  13. and forth or just want to see the pretty Setup program screen.  
  14. To install GrpIcon using GRPBIG.ZIP, just unzip the files to a floppy 
  15. diskette or to any directory and run SETUP.EXE from within Windows.

  17. GRPBIG.ZIP contains the following files:

  21. LZEXPAND.DLL    - Decompression Library used by Setup

  43. and should be decompressed using the SETUP.EXE program.)

  46. Package #2: GRPMED.ZIP
  47. This package is similar to GRPBIG except it does not contain the Windows-based 
  48. installation program or COMMDLG.DLL, which is only required for Windows 3.0 
  49. users (it is included with Windows 3.1). This reduces the archive size to 
  50. about 324KB.  To install GrpIcon using this archive or the even smaller 
  51. GRPSML.ZIP, please unzip the files to the following locations:

  53. *.EXE - The Windows directory or a directory reserved for GrpIcon.
  54. *.HLP - The Windows directory.
  55. *.DLL - The Windows System directory.
  56. *.BMP - The Windows directory or a directory reserved for GrpIcon.

  58. (Please Note: As GRPMED.ZIP and GRPSML.ZIP do not contain Windows 3.1 
  59. compatibility files, Windows 3.0 users should use GRPBIG.ZIP unless they 
  60. already have a copy of COMMDLG.DLL on their system.)

  83. This package is similar to GRPMED except it does not contain the sample 
  84. bitmap images, which ultimately reduces the file size to about 205KB.  
  85. To install GrpIcon using this archive, please follow the instructions above 
  86. for GRPMED.ZIP.

  99. In all cases, start the program GRPICON.EXE to start GrpIcon.  
  100. When you start GrpIcon, you may see a colorful dialog box appear notifying 
  101. you that you have an "Unregistered Demo Copy".  This dialog box will appear 
  102. about once every three hours until GrpIcon is registered, in which case the 
  103. dialog box will not appear unless you choose "About GrpIcon" from the new 
  104. Program Manager Group menu. When the dialog box appears, if you have obtained 
  105. a Registration Number from Inner-City Software, you may select the 
  106. "Register Me" button to register GrpIcon.   Otherwise, simply click the "Go!" 
  107. button to continue.

  109. When GrpIcon is started, you will not see any icon appear for it.  
  110. This is because GrpIcon's mission is to make your Windows Program Manager act 
  111. just like it had the ability to customize Group windows all along, so all of 
  112. GrpIcon's functions are accessible directly from Program Manager whenever
  113. GrpIcon is running.  
  114. Just click on the Control Menu (also known as the System Menu) of any 
  115. Program Manager Group window, or press Alt-minus with the keyboard to open 
  116. the Control Menu of the active Program Manager Group.  You will see a new, 
  117. colorful menu item entitled "Group Properties".  Select the new 
  118. "Group Properties" menu item, and another snazzy menu will appear which 
  119. allows you to access the various GrpIcon features.

  121. From here on in, have fun, experiment, and if you have questions, 
  122. consult the on-line Help, which is available by clicking on the Help button 
  123. in any GrpIcon dialog box.  If your question is not answered by the on-line

  128. P.S.  If you received GrpIcon on a floppy diskette, the diskette contains all 
  129. of the files included in GRPBIG.ZIP in the root directory, and copies of all 
  130. three of the zip files in a directory called UPLOAD.  As GrpIcon is shareware, 
  131. we ask that you support the shareware concept by uploading the files in the 
  132. UPLOAD directory to any BBS system or on-line service to which you have 
  133. access. This will increase your upload credits and improve your karma, honest!
